Moritt Hock & Hamroff Expands Its Patent & Trademark Practices

Garden City, NY; September 23, 2013 —  The law firm of Moritt Hock & Hamroff with offices on Long Island and Manhattan reports continued growth of its Patent and Trademark Practices with the recent addition of Michael F. Sarney, Esq., Brett O. White, Esq. and Kate Wong. Mr. Sarney joins the firm as of counsel concentrating in patent litigation, trademark prosecution and trademark litigation Mr. White, a registered patent attorney, joins the firm as an associate and Ms. Wong joins the firm as a technical advisor in its Patent practice group. Mr. Sarney will reside in the firm’s Manhattan office and Mr. White and Ms. Wong will both reside in the firm’s Garden City office.

Michael F. Sarney has over 20 years of experience in handling complex patent, trademark, trade dress, copyright and trade secret litigation.  The scope of his practice is diversified and includes trademark counseling, prosecution, opinions, searching and enforcement; trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings; mediation; intellectual property licensing; and IP due diligence.  Mr. Sarney earned his J.D. from New York Law School and is admitted to practice in New York.  Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Sarney was special counsel at the New York City law firm of Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP.

Brett O. White concentrates his practice in all aspects of patent related matters including patent prosecution, from initial filings to enforcement.  In addition, Mr. White also handles patents for companies of all sizes, including initial filings and replies to USPTO Office Actions in fields including computer hardware and software, networking, and telecommunications devices.  Mr. White earned his J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law and his B.S. in biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  In addition, he is expected to earn his B.E. in electrical engineering this fall from CCNY’s Grove School of Engineering. He is admitted to practice in New York, as well as before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.  Prior to joining the firm, Mr. White served as a patent agent/attorney at a Long Island law firm.

Kate Wong has over seven years of experience in the electrical engineering and higher education industry.  Her areas of expertise include electrical and computer engineering, physics and computer science. She is a former adjunct instructor at New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) where she developed course materials for various levels of undergraduate electrical and computer engineering courses.  Earlier in her career, Ms. Wong was a staff associate at the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department at NYIT.  She earned her Master of Science in electrical engineering and computer science from NYIT and her B.S. in physics from Fordham University.  Ms. Wong is currently a candidate for her Ph.D. in electrical engineering at Stony Brook University.
