Bruce A. BlakemanCounsel
Bruce A. Blakeman has over 30 years of experience in handling all facets of commercial litigation, finance, real estate, transportation, and mediation matters. In addition, Mr. Blakeman is also closely involved in various civic and governmental matters and currently serves as a Councilman on the Hempstead Town Board for the 3rd District.
Mr. Blakeman has vast governmental experience, having been appointed as a Commissioner of the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey (2001–2009) by Governor George E. Pataki. Prior to this role, he had been elected to the Nassau County Legislature, holding the positions of Presiding Officer and Majority Leader (1996–1999), and he served as a Councilman on the Hempstead Town Board (1993–1996). Mr. Blakeman has also waged political campaigns as a Republican Party candidate for U.S. Congress (4th CD) in 2014 and as a Republican Party candidate for U.S. Senate in 2010.
Throughout his leadership roles with the Port Authority and the Nassau County Legislature, he was responsible for reviewing and overseeing the development and implementation of budgets in the range of several billion dollars. Mr. Blakeman also acted as President of the Tobacco Settlement Local Development Corporation, an organization that controlled $78 million in tobacco settlement funds for Nassau County from 1999 through 2004. In addition, he performed as the lead broker in a $102 million land transaction that successfully resulted in multinational corporation Canon locating its North and South American Headquarters in Melville, New York.
Mr. Blakeman has served on the faculty of Long Island University as a Senior Fellow in the Homeland Security Department and also taught Business Law at Hofstra University. As a recognized leader in his field, Mr. Blakeman frequently serves as a media commentator and public speaker on a wide array of legal, political, budgetary, finance, homeland security and transportation issues.

Mr. Blakeman is a Board Member of the American Jewish Congress, having served as Alternate Delegate to the UN (2005–2009) and Vice President (2013). He is also an Executive Director and Board Member (2009–Present) of the New York Police Chiefs’ Benevolent Association. Having been a Founder of Hewlett House, a breast cancer community resource and learning center, Mr. Blakeman additionally served as its Chairman.
